ADLINK’s Thermal Solutions: Match your System with the Right Cooling Option
When choosing ADLINK's thermal solutions, it is crucial to select the right module type that aligns with your system's performance and ensures reliability in any environment. Below, we break down the key differences to help you make an informed choice!
1. HTS – Heat spreader
Cooling mechanism:
Uses a copper block and aluminum plate to dissipate heat into the chassis, effectively reducing the heat generated by the module.
Best fit for:
Ideal for fanless systems or tight spaces since it does not rely on external airflow.
2. THS – Passive low thermal profile heatsink
Cooling mechanism:
Like the HTS, it uses a copper block and aluminum plate, but it adds short fins to increase the heat dissipation surface area, which boosts thermal performance.
Best fit for:
Suitable for systems with limited space but efficient in utilizing internal airflow to dissipate heat, providing enhanced thermal performance.
3. THSH – Passive high thermal profile heatsink
Cooling mechanism:
Based on the THS design, it features taller fins that expand the heat dissipation area, significantly improving cooling efficiency.
Best fit for:
Ideal for systems without strict size limitations, along with built-in fans or other active cooling mechanisms, it provides much higher thermal performance for systems that require greater cooling capacity.
4. THSF – Active cooler with integrated fan
Cooling mechanism:
Builds on the THSH design by adding an active cooling fan along with an intelligent fan control system for optimal thermal performance.
Best fit for:
Suitable for high-performance systems or harsh temperature environments, delivering powerful cooling capabilities to ensure system stability.
For COM Express Type 10 products, you will find that the modules are designed for lower power consumption (below 15W). This means that the only available options are the HTS, THS, and THSH, as these modules do not include an active cooling fan.
Always consider your system’s environment, space limitations, and thermal requirements when choosing the right modules and subsequent thermal solutions. The HTS is perfect for fanless applications, while the THS and THSH shine in systems with some airflow. For high-performance or extreme temperature situations, the THSF is your go-to cooling solution.
