Since I expect to be working on the Ampere UEFI firmware for my Ampere Altra Dev Kit, I've been reading https://www.ipi.wiki/pages/aadk-docs?page=HowToUseDediprogFlashEDK2.html in case I need to recover the edk2 firmware.
It mentions two types of DB40 Debug Module boards, and since I have the A2 carrier, I'll want the black version.
However, I can't find any reference to that version on https://www.adlinktech.com/Products/Computer_on_Modules/EngineeringTools/DB40_Debug_Module or other sites such as mouser. How would I go about buying one?
@Rebecca Cran
Hi Rebecca,
To clarify, the DB40 should be considered an optional item rather than a mandatory one. As you may have noticed, there is an additional device labeled "Dediprog" that is required for flashing the EDKII with the DB40. Without the Dediprog, the DB40 is limited to serve as a status checking device (POST CODE) mostly.
Considering the possibility of clients needing to update the EDKII FW, we have identified a simpler method using a USB thumb disk. I encourage you to refer to the link provided below for detailed instructions on how to perform the EDKII FW update. Should you have any further questions or require additional clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your cooperation in resolving this misunderstanding. We look forward to assisting you further if any unexpected reason that you need update the firmware thru a DB40 as a forcely method.
Regards,
Lauryn
@Lauryn Hsu Thanks. I received my board a couple of days ago and have already performed a firmware upgrade using a USB thumb disk.
I have a Dediprog programmer and would like to get a DB40 board in case I get into a situation where I flash a UEFI image with a bug and am unable to reach the UEFI Shell again.
I understand that in the course of edk2 testing you will brick the thing multiple times and than USB updates are no longer possible. We will get you a DB40 and setup instructions. These pages should end up in online docs also.
