The download page says:
Latest Image: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with Wayland for 2GB (size:2.19 GB)
Note: the Ubuntu is not the native from Canonical. We're using Ubuntu rootfs on the top of IMX8MP kernel and it doesn't support for "sudo apt update or upgrade"
Does this mean that it is impossible to update or upgrade a running Ububtu machine?
What would the procedure be to use a newer build (for example one that supports SSD on m.2 port) in a running imx8mp PLUS with many pre-installed apps?
Hi @William Hofmeyr, yes you are correct that the kernel cannot be updated or upgraded since we use our own kernel to build the Ubuntu image. Nonetheless, you can install any application or your own application on it if you wish. The updated image is also regularly released on the I-Pi wiki website.
